The Glass is Half Full

About

Star Wars meets Harry Potter in this magical realism novel-in-stories that’s also perfect for fans of The Alchemist, Arabian Nights, and The Hobbit.

A boy finds a pair of magical glasses which lets him see the world in a new way, leading to wondrous, unexpected results.

That’s what this novel is.

But it’s not the novel you expect.

First,
Jacob isn’t a boy in school. He’s a Lakota boy, an Indigenous American. He’s been forced to drop out of high school. He’s on a Vision Quest to find meaning and purpose in a life that has become boring and hopeless. To complete his Vision Quest, he’s snuck onto federally owned land his tribe is forbidden to set foot on, risking life in prison.

Second, there’s the magical
jackalope that’s trying to kill him, and the magical coyotes the jackalope has under its control, a whole pack of them, which want to eat him.

Third, there’s
the Magical Glasses. He doesn’t actually have them. They’re something Jacob invented to weave into the stories he tells, because he’s trying to use his storytelling to stop the jackalope and the coyotes from eating him alive.

Fourth, the Magical Glasses don’t actually make you see anything. They just make you view what you could already see in the most positive, optimistic, hopeful way possible.

For Jacob to complete his Vision Quest, and to save his life, he’ll need to unlock the power of the Magical Glasses, even if they’re just an idea in his head and he doesn’t physically own them (yet). Because, hidden in the Magical Glasses, he’ll find a secret that changes everything—if he can survive long enough to discover it.

One thing is certain: before dawn, either Jacob will win his rite to become a man, or he’ll die trying. But if he’s going down, he’s not going down without a fight.

This
magical realism literary fantasy novel-in-stories is perfect for fans of fantasy, cyberpunk, fables and fairy tales, science fiction, and literary fiction, and blurs the line between novel and collection of novellas, for an immersive reading experience of gritty, thought-provoking fun. You won’t be able to put down this instant classic!
